Mission #5: Ocean Rafting
Here’s to another photo essay!
Our last activity in our Whitsundays package included a day of ocean rafting. The trip involved an open boat, an improvement from the long 3 hour ferry to the Great Barrier Reef.
It was fast and refreshing, a great way to get another look at Whitehaven Beach. We approached the island from a different side, went for a mini hike in the tropical heat and were rewarded with the amazing views of Hill Inlet. The swirls of sand were really like nothing we’ve seen before!
We walked along this shallow area to where our boat was waiting for us. The tour took us to snorkel off the coast of another island, not far from Whitehaven.
This was beautiful and up close to a lot of coral and fish, as we had seen on many of our trips. We had also hired an underwater camera to get some shots from our snorkelling adventures!
After this we got to spend a lovely afternoon on a stretch of Whitehaven – a nicer strip than our brief Air Whitsunday‘s stop. The beach was amazingly white and clean, whilst the water glistened in the summer heat.
We had a VIP package so we ate a cold buffet lunch, served from our vessel. Meanwhile, our VIP wristbands meant the crew took priority in getting photos of us snorkelling etc. in order to give us a package of photos and a brief video of the day. I’d upload it, but it’s too long. Instead, enjoy a short snippet below!
It was a fun day with everything you need – a fun crowd, fresh air and adrenalin on the boat ride, time to see nature and time to eat and relax on the beach. Couldn’t ask for a better way to spend New Year’s Eve!
Find out more about Ocean Rafting here. I think we did the Southern Lights tour as this had more beach time.
Photos by myself and The Adventouriist. The Ocean Rafting photos were taken by crew on the day and given to us as part of our package.
