Royal Stacks

If you’re “in” with the burger scene, you’ll recognise names of places such as Dandenong Pavillion, Easey’s and Grand Trailer Park Taverna. And if you work on the Southern Cross end of the city, you’ll be happy to know Dani Zeini, who brought delicious burgers to all these places, has now opened Royal Stacks at 470 Collins St.

IMG_0300 copyThe launch night was on a beautiful (note sarcasm) 40+ degree day, with a free flow of drinks/soft drink, burgers and ice-cream, so not a bad night at all.

IMG_0307 copyLuckily when we first arrived, some burgers were just coming out and we managed to snag a “Single Stack” the most basic burger with “special burger sauce”. The cheese was melted to perfection and was just about the right size to leave room for more to eat. If you’ve read my previous post on Grand Trailer Park Taverna, I wasn’t 100% sold on it, but for some reason I enjoyed this simple burger a lot.

IMG_0309 copyBy the time we were done with burger #1, the crowd seemed to have doubled and it was much harder to get a burger. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try another one, because it was too hot to try and get one. Here’s a shot of my friend’s “Saint”, two beef patties with jalapenos, bacon, chipotle mayo and two beef patties – huge.

IMG_0316 copyWe were happy to sip on some soft drinks and nibble on some potato gems – because let’s be honest, how can you go wrong with potato gems?

IMG_0320 copyAnother drawcard of Royal Stacks is that they serve 7apples gelato. The venue is highlighting their US-inspired frozen custard, which was tasty but still seemed like gelato.

IMG_0330 copyMy friend and I were fortunate enough to grab the last of the Kinder gelato, which was full of creamy and hazelnut-y goodness. I think I enjoyed this more than the frozen custard – so that’s my pick!

IMG_0322 copyIMG_0324 copy 2 IMG_0327 copyMy favourite part of the night was when someone decided to put their burgers on the Royal Stacks throne and all the bloggers decided it would make an excellent photo. I stayed at a distance from the crowd hence my side shot 😉

IMG_0335 copyIMG_0332 copyIt was a fun night and although I didn’t get to try all the burgers, I think it’s a good option for the Southern Cross end of town. Hopefully it doesn’t get too busy for those who work around the area, because I know Grand Trailer Park can get full and super busy at lunch.

Royal Stacks opens tomorrow (Monday 18th) so make sure you get down to try it before the crowds start coming!

Mon’s Adventure was invited as a guest by Zilla & Brook. All opinions are my own.
